UCR Early Childhood Services Staff
The staff is a team made up of Child Development professionals consisting of lead teachers, teaching assistants, the director, early childhood education interns, a music teacher and clerical personnel.
All teachers and teaching assistants hold a valid Child Development permit issued by the State of California Commission on Teaching Credentialing, and all are employees of the University of California, Riverside. Our highly educated team has earned a total of two Masters degrees, 20 Bachelors degrees, nine Associate degrees, and 11 trade/craft degrees.
Adult ratios in the classroom follow Title 5 of the Education Code, State of California Department of Education.
All teaching staff participate in on-going professional development through attendance at workshops, training and college coursework which are required to maintain and renew teaching credentials.

Our management staff has a combined 67 years experience in childhood development. Our experienced management team is a vital component to the growth and daily operations of Early Childhood Services.
I graduated from the University of La Verne with a B.S. in early childhood development. I started at UCR in 2004 and have been in the field of early childhood education for 37 years. I currently hold a Child Development Director Permit.
I began my career in early childhood education in 1996 as an assistant preschool teacher and van driver for school-aged children. I received a Site Supervisor permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing in 2010. I began working at UCR’s Early Childhood Services as Site Supervisor in 2010.
Our Administrative Staff are the driving force behind day-to-day operations, designed to help ECS flourish and grow. The administrators provide the necessary foundation for the advancement of Early Childhood Services.
I have a Bachelor of Arts from California State University, San Bernardino in Human Development- Child Development Track and a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Brandman University. I possess almost 9 years experience of operating a program and conducting annual analysis and planning, implementing, and documenting changes at the program level that will ensure quality improvement and state compliance. In 2015, my center and I successfully obtained the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Accreditation as the pilot center for my former employer under my leadereship and received a State Preschool Quality Rating of a Tier 4.
I have been at UCR’s Early Childhood Services since 2006. I graduated from UCR in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. I have two children, Jayleen & Jayvian. My hobbies are to spend time with my children and husband, clean, workout and dance. I love my family and I love my job!
ECS's lead teachers fill their days with the joys of caring for your children, while maintaining a positive, safe, and creative learning environment for everyone.
I have been working in the Child Development field for over 20 years, with 16 years at UCR Early Childhood Services (since 1996) and 12 years with preschool aged children. I have my Site Supervisor level permit, an A.A. in Early Childhood Studies and a B.S in Child Development. I love working with the kids as they always make me laugh and amaze me with their knowledge that they have and learn daily.
I am starting my fifth year at UCR’s Early Childhood Services. I have over 30 years of experience in preschool. I have my bachelor’s degree from Cal Baptist University in liberal studies, with a concentration in early childhood.
My name is Surianum Budiman and I am the Infant Room Lead Teacher. I have a B.A in Management from University of Sumatra Utara Indonesia and studied Early Child Development at Riverside Community College and UCR Extension. I have been working at UCR's Early Childhood Services for 12 years, since 2001, and have worked in the Child Development field with Infants and Toddlers for 23 years.
I have been teaching since 2007 and working at UCR’s Early Childhood Services since September 2009. In the fall of 2010, I became the Lead Teacher for toddlers. I have worked with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children. I have an associate degree in early childhood education and a California teacher’s credential.
I obtained a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies from California Baptist University. I have been teaching for almost 15 years and have been at UCR since 2009.
My Name is Carmen Stark. I'm married to a wonderful man, and we have two handsome sons and a beautiful granddaughter. I graduated from La Verne with a B.A. in Child Development. I hold my Director's Permit and am an advisor for UCR Cares Plus. I've been with ECS for 16 years (1998) and feel that this is the most rewarding and amazing profession that exists. All I can say is that I LOVE MY JOB!
I have been here at UCR’s Early Childhood Services since 1999. I have bachelor’s degree in liberal studies and have been in this field for 20 years.
I graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Master’s Degree in Ed. Psychology. I have taught Kindergarten at ECS for the past 16 years, since 1998, and developed the format in which I use in the classroom. I have taught Kindergarten for the past 24 years in Riverside. I am married and have three children. My personal interests are gardening, walking, cooking and antiques.
For our teachers, providing a stimulating learning habitat is a top priority. Our teachers care for young children from infancy through kindergarten, while upholding the policies that ensure a safe and caring space for your children to thrive.
I have had the pleasure of working at UCR’s Early Childhood Services since 2001. I have worked with infants, toddlers and two’s, and have had the experience of working in the school-aged summer camp program. I am going back to school to get my bachelor’s degree in child development.
I have been at UCR’s Early Childhood Services since 2009. In that time, I have worked with infants, toddlers and now preschool. I have been teaching for over 20 years. I have taught children from infants to kindergarten. I enjoy reading, dancing and traveling.
I have been working with children for 16 years, and I’ve been at UCR since 2007. I am planning on going back to school to further my education.
I came to UCR’s ECS when building B was opened in 2009. I've worked in many areas of the child development field for 35 years. Currently I am Teacher 1 in the Infant Room. I have a bachelor’s degree in recreation administration, an associate degree in social sciences. I have been married to Jim for 40 years. We have two adult children: Becky and Todd. We've lived in the house Jim's family built in 1905 since marriage. We are active in the community, Etiwanda Historical Society, Veterans Support activities, the City of Rancho Cucamonga and our church.
I’ve had the pleasure of working for UCR’s Early Childhood Services since 2010. I have over 10 years of experience as an early childhood educator. I hold an Early Childhood Site Supervisor Permit and associate degree in social behaviors studies with academic disciplines in early childhood education, fall 2014.
I have 23 years of experience in early childhood education. I graduated in Guatemala City in 1981 with a certificate in early childhood with an emphasis on Maria Montessori philosophy. I have a teachers certificate in early childhood and am currently working on my associate degree on social behavior, with an emphasis on early childhood studies. I have been with UCR since 2011.
I am Ms. Kamilah Jackson, better known as “Ms.K.” I have a bachelor’s degree in American studies from the University of Southern Mississippi. I have been teaching early childhood for over 14 years and have been at UCR’s Early Childhood Services since 2010. I love dancing, shopping and being a mother of an awesome soccer player.
I have been working at UCR’s Early Childhood Services since 2006. I hold a Teacher Permit.
I have my associate degree in child development. I have taught children in preschool and kindergarten while living in Japan. I have been at UCR’s Early Childhood Services since starting work in August 2000 for practical training. After volunteering in kindergarten, I was offered a permanent position. I have a 4-year-old daughter who enjoys learning in Ms. Badillo’s classroom.
I have worked in the early childhood education field for nine years (with eight of those years at UCR’s Early Childhood Services, since 2006.). I have a Site Supervisor permit and have completed 40 early childhood education units. My love for educating and engaging with young children has kept me in this field for so long.
I have a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Studies with a Concentration in Intervention from California Baptist University, an A.A. in Early Childhood Education and an A.S. in Behavioral Science. I have 10 years in early childhood experience, ranging from infants to pre-kindergarten, with two of those years as a behavioral assistant in special education. I have been with UCR’s Early Childhood Services since August 2009.
I have worked at UCR’s Early Childhood Services since October 2009. I have a California Teaching Credential and bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. I have been a preschool teacher for 18 years. It's my pleasure to be part of your children's life.
I have been working at UCR’s Early Childhood Services since 2006. I have been in the child development field for 14 years! I currently work in my favorite place — the infant room. It’s where I feel my best. I am looking to further my education by receiving my degree in sociology once I choose a school. I enjoy working with your children and watching them learn and grow.

I have a bachelor’s degree in early child development and teacher permit. I started my undergraduate studies in 2005 and I have been employed at UCR’s Early Childhood Services since 2008. My previous work experience was at Jurupa Valley School District as a teacher assistant. I have nine years of experience in this field.
I am married and I have three girls. I have been working in the field for 16 years and at UCR since 2004. I’ve worked with all ages from newborn to preschool. I like and enjoy my job. I like working as part of a team.
I have been working at UCR Early Childhood Services for 11 years. I have a Teacher level permit and plan to upgrade my credential. I have had the opportunity to work with infants, toddlers, and toddlers two’s throughout the years allowing me to learn about each stage of development. Previous to working at ECS, I worked with preschool and pre-kindergarten ages as well as after-school-aged children.
Our Housekeeping Staff keep Early Childhood Services clean and safe for children, teachers, and parents. Without the housekeeping staff, our classrooms and facilities could not function as they do.
My name is Manny Sanchez, and I've been with UCR for twelve years. I am married and have one son, two step sons, two step daughters, and a grandchild whom I love spending time with. I also love pets - I have three Labradors, one Jack Russell Terrier, and two cats.
I'm Ricardo Campos and I've been with ECS for four years. I am married and have two daughters, one in college and one in high school. I enjoy spending time with my family, spending time outdoors, and going to car shows - I own two classic cars myself.
I am Irma Zamora, and I've been with UCR for four years working with campus apartments, but also for ECS. I have one daughter and two sons, and I love watching all types of movies: drama, action, suspense, etc. I enjoy spending most of my time with my children.
